Your appointment
If you’ve been referred to Dr Kat Black for a thyroid, parathyroid or adrenal condition, your first appointment is a chance to talk through what’s brought you in, make sense of your results and discuss what happens next.
Booking an appointment
You’ll need a referral to book an appointment with Dr Black. You can obtain one from your GP or specialist. Once you have your referral, please contact the rooms to arrange an appointment time. If your referring doctor has already sent it to us, just let reception know when you call.
What to bring
Your referral, if a copy hasn’t already been sent to the rooms.
Any relevant results. Some results may already be included with your referral. Please bring any copies you have. If you don’t have copies, please note where your blood tests, scans or biopsies were done so we can locate the results if needed.
A current list of your medications and supplements, including doses
Your Medicare card and private health insurance details
You’re welcome to bring a support person and a list of questions of any questions you’d like to ask.
What to expect at your first visit
Dr Black will talk with you about what’s brought you in and ask a few questions about your health and medical history. She’ll go through any results with you and explain what they mean. You’ll have time to ask questions and discuss what happens next.
Depending on your condition, the next step might be further tests, monitoring over time or a discussion about surgery. If surgery is an option, there’ll be time to talk through why it might help, what the operation involves and what to expect during recovery.
